Dear Parents and Students,
We are so happy to be welcoming you back to orchestra this fall, for in-person rehearsals!
As per your registration confirmation, our two Thursday orchestras for beginner and intermediate string players will begin rehearsals on Thursday, September 16th. The orchestras will meet from 5:30-6:45 p.m. and 7:00-8:15 p.m. You were given your rehearsal time when you registered, but please contact Patricia if you aren’t sure which group you are in.
All regular rehearsals will take place in the large Lower Parish Hall of Ascension Lutheran Church, and will follow the Edmonton Public School calendar for holidays and breaks (excluding PD days). You can find the calendar here: https://epsb.ca/media/epsb/calendars/division-calendar-2021-22.pdf
Payment may now be submitted for your child’s orchestra fees and volunteer deposits:
- Thursday Orchestras: $250 per student
- Volunteer Deposit: $300 per family
Volunteer deposits must be received in the form of a cheque, post-dated to June 1, 2022 and made payable to the Edmonton String Players Association. These will be collected at the first rehearsal on September 16th at 5:30 or 7:00 p.m.
Orchestra fees may be paid by cheque or by e-transfer to registrar@musicenrichment.ca. Payment is due by October 15th, or a payment arrangement must be in place by that date.
Our Annual General Meeting is coming up!
Please put it on your calendar and plan to attend – your attendance is important and your input is valued.
Date: October 2nd, 2021
Time: 10:00 a.m.
Location: Ascension Lutheran Church, lower level
At this meeting we will be sharing financial reports and updates about the program, and electing Board members for the 2021/2022 season. We are also discussing a potential change to Articles 3.0 and 4.0 of our Association’s bylaws, specifically regarding eligibility criteria for board positions, and will bring that motion to the membership at the meeting as a Special Resolution.
As a non-profit organization, we are required to have a certain level of attendance in order to hold the meeting, so please RSVP when you receive an invitation. We will send out another email closer to the event with the meeting agenda and relevant documents attached so you can review them ahead of time. (Attendance at the AGM also helps to fulfill your volunteer commitment!)
Board Nominations – We need YOU!
Do you see the value and potential in the Music Enrichment Program, and want it to continue? If you would like to be a part of the future of MEP, please consider putting your name forward for a board position. For the 2021/2022 season we will be seeking to fill several executive positions as well as a fundraising chair and directors. As a non-profit organization, we cannot operate without an Executive in place, so it is critical that we have parents willing to step into these roles and keep the program going.
Parents who are willing to invest in the program by being on the board will have their volunteer deposit waived in appreciation of the time commitment involved.
Casino & Bingo Update:
At this time, we have no expectation of having a casino for the 2021/2022 season. We do, however, have bingo dates for the year and will have a signup form available shortly. The first bingo is booked for October 4th – if you know that you will be able to volunteer for this one, please email registrar@musicenrichment.ca and let us know!
